Day 22 – Striking Camp

The rain had continued all night but abated for Simon to put the last few things in the car.  Staying in the Alps had been beautiful but cold and it was time to be moving on.  A relaxed and leisurely days drive on the now  familiar roads to Grenoble and then onto the motorways we always seem to travel on in France.  P was expert in her handling of the peage stations – juggling tickets, cards and receipts.

After Longres we travelled on a new (to us) stretch of motorway before taking the country roads to Flirey in the Moselle region of France.  Simon had spent quite a bit of time researching and booking the overnight stops.  The first 2 had been excellent, so the third had a lot to live up to.  We were not disappointed!  A very comfortable room at L’Auberge De Flirey with the added bonus of an excellent meal to be had in the restaurant – washed down with a surprising (but very nice) bottle of local Pinot Noir.
